SEACRET INTENSIVE MOISTURE FACE CREAM INGREDIENT RESEARCH

DEAD SEA MINERALS RESEARCH

Dead Sea Minerals are rich in magnesium, which helps to moisturize the epidermis by strengthening its lipid barrier. The elements in Dead Sea salt, such as bromine, zinc, and magnesium, not only improve hydration but also reduce inflammation (1).

Because of its coarseness, Dead Sea salt is an excellent exfoliator. The Dead Sea salt can exfoliate and eliminate dead skin cells to speed up the healing process of the skin, resulting in noticeably more radiant skin (1).

VITIS VINIFERA (GRAPESEED OIL) RESEARCH

“Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, or grapeseed oil, is a lightweight oil extracted from grape seeds that penetrates the skin quickly, leaving skin soft, supple, and moisturized,”

Grapeseed oil is well-known for its anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory characteristics, but it also includes a lot of omega fatty acids and vitamin E, which makes it popular in skincare formulations (2).  However, the main power of grapeseed oil comes from polyphenol compounds and proanthocyanidin, which are powerful antioxidants.

According to research, grapeseed proanthocyanidins have 20 times the antioxidant strength of vitamin E and 50 times the antioxidant power of vitamin C  (3).   The antioxidant capabilities of Grapeseed oil protects the skin from oxidative stress and UV damage as well as creating a protective barrier that reduces the burden of free radicals and protecting the skin against molecular and cellular damage (4).

“The strong antioxidant capacities of grapeseed can help reduce the signs of aging, such as sun spots, fine lines, and wrinkles.”

VITAMINS E RESEARCH

Vitamin E has long been thought to be an anti-inflammatory agent for the skin, with multiple studies supporting its ability to prevent inflammatory damage following UV exposure.  Vitamin E has a high antioxidant content which influences skin protection and strengthening the skin barrier.

A 2013 study on vitamin E showed that the natural antioxidant compounds in Vitamin E were effective at postponing photoaging (5).

CHAMOMILE EXTRACT RESEARCH

Chamomile extract may aid with reducing redness, hyperpigmentation, and acne when applied to the skin. Chamomile extract may also help to heal wounds and soothe sensitive skin (6).

Chamomile includes anti-oxidants such as polyphenols and phytochemicals. It may help minimize signs of aging by shielding the skin from free radical damage when administered to the skin (6).

“It accelerates cell and tissue renewal, reducing the appearance of fine lines and giving skin a youthful glow,” Engelman says.

ETHYLHEXYL PALMITATE RESEARCH

Ethylhexyl palmitate is a fatty alcohol and palmitic acid mixture that acts as an emollient (meaning it softens and smoothes skin), texture enhancer, and solvent.  Ethylhexyl palmitate improves the appearance of skin, particularly dry skin, by assisting in the reduction of moisture loss from the upper layers of the skin. As a solvent, it aids in the solubilization of other substances, allowing active compounds to penetrate the skin more easily. It aids in the dispersion and uniform distribution of ingredients for better absorption (7).

GLYCERYL STEARATE RESEARCH

Glyceryl stearate is made up of glycerin and stearic acid, and acts as an emollient, surfactant, and emulsifier. Its emulsifying properties are quite adaptable, making it a helpful and mild addition to a variety of emulsions, including oil-in-water and water-in-oil emulsions, where it helps enhance the effects of skin-replenishing components like ceramides and fatty acids. Its hydrating characteristics make skin softer and smoother. It also forms a barrier on the skin, preventing water loss (8).
